"The idea to start Avalon came to me in 9th grade, initially as a plan to make a public library of notes. Throughout my years as a student I’d amassed a large collection of self-made notes and Quizlets for various classes, and since they’d really helped me out, I thought it would be cool to make those resources public so they could help out other people too. I started working on making such a server by myself for a few months, but the project stayed on the backburner until October of 2019. It was then that I first reached out to a friend, asking if he thought the idea of an “Academic Assistance” server where members would share resources (notes, Quizlets, etc.) to help each other sounded like a good idea. He thought it was a great idea, and ended up joining the server I'd started to help with constructing the project. After that point, more ideas came: a verified tutor system and many community aspects (like a “lounge” chat, voice channels, etc.) to make this place more than just a public note library. I ended up recruiting two more of my friends to act as moderators of the server and we officially opened Avalon to the public on August 30th, 2020, starting off with about 30 members, most of which were friends, or friends of friends." - Alexa
